The Staff Selection Commission has officially released the SSC CGL 2026 notification for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, inviting online applications for approximately 12,256 vacancies in various Group B and Group C posts across different ministries and departments of the Government of India.
- Total vacancies stand at 12,256 posts distributed across multiple cadres including Assistant Section Officer, Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub-Inspector in CBI, Inspector of Posts, Divisional Accountant, Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics, Assistant in Ministry of External Affairs and other important positions.
- Educational qualification for the majority of posts is a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute. Certain posts like Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer require specific additional qualifications such as CA, CS, CMA, M.Com or MBA.
- The online application process is currently active and the last date to submit the application form is 22nd June 2026. Candidates are strongly advised to complete registration well before the deadline to avoid server load issues.
- Application fee is ₹100 for General and OBC male candidates. Women candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
- Age limit criteria vary by post but generally range between 18 to 32 years as on 1st August 2026. Upper age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates, central government civilian employees, and other eligible categories as per government rules.
- The examination will be conducted in four tiers. Tier-I and Tier-II are Computer Based Examinations, Tier-III is a Descriptive Paper (for certain posts) and Tier-IV consists of Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test/Document Verification for qualified candidates.
- Selection is made strictly on the basis of merit-cum-preference of posts exercised by the candidates during the application process. Candidates must carefully fill their post preferences as changes are not allowed later.
- Important documents required at the time of application include valid Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrollment Number, recent passport size photograph, signature, and educational/category certificates in prescribed format.
- All important notices, corrigendum and updates are published only on the official website ssc.nic.in and the websites of respective Regional Offices. Candidates must regularly visit these portals for authentic information.
- SarkaarNaukri recommends that aspirants start focused preparation immediately for both Tier-I and Tier-II as the level of competition is expected to be very high this year with a large number of applications anticipated.
