The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) CEN 01/2026 notification for recruitment of 11,727 posts in the Loco Running cadre of Indian Railways across various Zonal Railways and Production Units.
- This is one of the largest technical recruitments announced recently and offers excellent career growth opportunities in the prestigious loco running category of Indian Railways.
- Educational qualification required is 10th standard pass + ITI in relevant trades (Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Fitter, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist, Turner, Welder, etc.) or 10th + Diploma in Engineering or 10th + Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade.
- Age limit is generally 18 to 30 years as on the cut-off date with upper age relaxation applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories as per railway recruitment rules.
- The selection process consists of Computer Based Test (CBT), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for ALP posts, Document Verification and Medical Examination. Candidates must qualify in each stage to be considered for final empanelment.
- Application fee is ₹500 for General and OBC candidates. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Women and Transgender candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
- Selected candidates will undergo rigorous training at designated Zonal Railway training centres before being posted as Assistant Loco Pilot. The job involves high responsibility of safe train operations.
- Pay scale is in Level-2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200) as per 7th CPC along with running allowance, dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other benefits applicable to railway employees.
- Candidates are advised to apply only through the official websites of the respective Regional Railway Recruitment Boards and avoid any fake websites or agents claiming to offer assured selection.
- RRB has published the detailed Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) along with syllabus, exam pattern, medical standards and important instructions on all regional RRB portals.
- Aspirants from ITI and engineering diploma backgrounds are encouraged to begin serious preparation for the technical and aptitude sections as soon as possible given the competitive nature of this recruitment.
