What happened

After declaring results of the first Special TG TET for in-service teachers (15,749 of 22,477 qualified; 70.07%), Telangana’s School Education Department said the notification for a second Special TGTET will be issued on 1 October 2026. Online examinations are planned for 16–21 November 2026.

The special TETs flow from a state order (3 June) allowing two special TETs for in-service teachers, besides regular TETs. Background: Supreme Court directions require most in-service teachers to clear TET by August 2028 to retain jobs (with nuances for those having less than five years’ service regarding promotion eligibility).

Quick facts

  • Paper I → Classes I–V; Paper II → Classes VI–VIII
  • First special exam dates: 8–9 September 2026
  • Regular TET notification also flagged for November 2026 with exams eyed for January 2027

Teachers should watch the official School Education / TGTET portal for the 1 October notification text, fee, eligibility cuts and city options. Pass percentages by paper and district (for example Suryapet leading in the first special cycle) are useful for descriptive answers on education outcomes.
